Island odyssey to Jura

The book I took to Jura with our bikes was 'Taking a Line for a Write: Inspiring Writing in Art and Design' by Pat Francis but couldn't find a moment to read it - too distracted by rainbows, dragonflies, wild flowers, diving sea birds - and skies .....

And inside the Parish Church, a sweet notice......

And on the gallery overlooking the congregation, a selection of books.....

And it made me think about how all the ideas embedded in those stories have circulated the island and far beyond - read by sunburnt yachtsmen at anchor in the bay, by children with torches under the covers in their holiday cottages, and by tired parents on dark and stormy nights when their kids are in bed - the fire stoked up - and a glass or two of Jura Superstition whisky awaits........
